It Takes a Village

It takes a village to raise children – all the brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, mothers and fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, friends and neighbors. Like the Russian nesting dolls, one generation holding the one before, we are all here to support each other.

Symbolism:  One sees a flower with a Mother and Child in the center, the flower  represents the village. The petals and leaves represent those in the village that help with raising our children. The village gives nurturing and helps to raise the children, and ideally the nurtured children return the gift and bring pride back to the village. There would be no flower without the petals and leaves.
